RSCK Annual Awards
The Annual Awards recognize outstanding members of our Association and community who shape our industry. Award recipients are member-nominated, member-voted, and honored at our Annual Awards & Installation event.
Nestor R. Weigand Jr. Distinguished Service Award
Past Distinguished Service Award Recipients2025 Recipient: Dawn Truman
This award is presented to a REALTOR® who has REALTOR® spirit, shows a history of activity in their local association as well as their community, and has a list of business and personal accomplishments showing their dedication in the following areas:
- REALTOR® Spirit (Faithfulness to principles of organized real estate, laws and regulations of their Association and the Code of Ethics, time and effort expended in furthering principles of good real estate practice among other real estate brokers, press, and the general public.)
- Activity in Local Association (Local Association office and committee work, special assignments, seminar activity and educational work, membership, and offices held in local chapters, institutes, etc.)
- Business Accomplishments (Public recognition of business conduct, service to clients, history of past production, and personal initiative, including listing and selling activities.)
- Activity in Civic Affairs (Local, state, and national level participation in civic and service clubs, charitable activities, political action or committees, fraternal or religious groups, etc.)
Please Note: that this award is only open to a REALTOR® who is not an owner or co-owner of a company.
Walter Morris Broker of the Year Award
Past Broker of the Year Award Recipients2025 Recipient: Braden McCurdy
This respected and cherished award is presented each year to the outstanding Broker of the Year, either for extraordinary accomplishments within the year for which the awards are made, or for outstanding achievements with a history of service and dedication over the years, which contribute to the reputation of the real estate profession, the benefit of the community, and is a reflection of the stature of the recipient.
Please Note: This award is open only to owners, co-owners, and managing brokers of member companies.
Ethics in Action Award
Past Ethics in Action Award Recipients2025 Recipient: Dwyn Thudium
This award is presented to an individual REALTOR® member who exhibits leadership and knowledge of the REALTOR® Code of Ethics, arbitration, and/or professional standards, and who is known to share such information with other real estate professionals; and who has participated in local, state, or national association grievance, professional standards, arbitration, or ethics-related activities.
Criteria: 1st part is service to the REALTOR® organization and the 2nd part is professional development.
Good Neighbor Award
Past Good Neighbor Award Recipients2025 Recipient: Alex Ibarra
Formerly the Community Advocate Award, the Good Neighbor Award was developed to honor members who are making significant contributions to their community through their time, actions, talents, and dedication. The honoree selected serves as a role model for compassion, and service and strives to make the world a better place. They should have a passion for helping others in their community.
Eligibility: Any member of RSCK or SCK MLS may be nominated with the exception of any paid staff member or any member of the Awards committee.
Criteria: Persons being nominated for this award will have consistently demonstrated qualities of compassion, and service to either one organization or a variety of volunteer activities in one year. The charitable activities/events or services listed on the application cannot be part of the nominee’s job description or duties and the individual cannot receive any monetary or personal benefits from their involvement.
Citizen(s) of the Year Award
Past Citizen of the Year Award Recipients2025 Recipient: Homeless Outreach Team (HOT), Wichita Police Department
The Citizen(s) of the Year Award recognizes a citizen or group from the community for their achievements, activities, and other community responsibilities that have a bearing in making Kansas a better place in which to work and live.
Criteria for Citizen(s) of The Year Nominees
- Nominees may not be REALTORS® of Affiliates
- Nominees must be South Central Kansas area residents
- Nominees can be from any field of endeavor
- Nominees must have contributed significantly to the community, county, or state
Business Partner of the Year Award
Past Business Partner of the Year Award Recipients2025 Recipient: MTG Family Mortgage
The Business Partner of the Year Award is presented to a company, an RSCK Business Partner Member. The Business Partner of the Year should be an active and meaningful participant in Association activities during the year and must have made some notable contributions to the REALTORS® of South Central Kansas during the past year.
Criteria: Must be Business Partner Members with all dues and fees currently paid. Must have provided outstanding service to the Membership. Must have personal and professional integrity. Should have demonstrated an attitude of concern giving to the community and especially to the Real Estate industry.

Rising Star & Rookie of The Year

2025 Rising Star & Residential Rookie of The Year: Emily Ford, Berkshire Hathaway PenFed Realty
Rising Star: $1,000,000 in sales 10+ transaction units within the first year after being licensed as a real estate agent.
Residential Rookie of The Year: Awarded to one (1) new residential licensees having the highest sales volume during their first full year of licensure.
